Stud connector or shear stud is the most common type of connector used to transfer shear load in steel-concrete composite. The shear stud is made of steel shank with one head embedded in concrete and the other end welded to a steel sheeting or flange. The shank resists horizontal shear stress and the embedded head provides anchorage to restrict vertical movement. The shear load capacity of stud connector is mainly influenced by stud length, shank diameter, stud strength, concrete grade and reinforcement detailing.
